ED 409

Special Topics in Educational Technology

What an AWESOME class this was!  I learned alot in this wonderful class.  The classrooms of today certainly look different from the classrooms of days gone by.  The students of the 21st century love technology and the convenience of online access, and they are prepared and equipped to learn virtually!  As teachers, it is imperative to use these amazing tools to keep our students engaged and actively participating in their courses.  ED 409 took me deep into the details of two very popular methods of content delivery, via on-line methods.  A Webinar and Online Virtual Classroom Session.  My classmates and I collaborated and created several WIKIs.  We conducted thorough research, added images, links, and specific details of each of the wonderful teaching venues.

The Webinars are catered, more or less, for large groups of people, but at the same time, still involve a little interaction.  I learned the importance of keeping the learners and audience engaged, while delivering valuable content.

The online session is great for the smaller groups, and needs to involve more tools and opportunities for interaction.

Online Education

There are 3 main types of online education:

1. Synchronous - is education in which students participate and learn at the same time or learning in real time.

2. Asynchronous- is education in which lessons and materials can be accessed at any time.

3. Hybrid - is a combination of synchronous and asynchronous education.

Below are links to the Online Session that I completed and the Webinar.  These projects were a lot of fun, and it was really interesting to conduct them via online BlackBoard Collaborate with my instructor and peers.

Here are some screen shots of the  WIKI I was telling you about!  A very neat tool to collaborate with my peers and learn together on the "awesomeness" of  Virtual Learning!
